Nautical Baby Shower - February 3, 2012 by Admin

Up next, this adorable NAUTICAL BABY SHOWER submitted by Maylene of Malu Boutiques. Oh my goodness, this is so cute! Just take a look at the blue jello with mandarine orange boats! Just darling…

Here is what Maylene said about the party-“I was so excited to have had the chance to plan my nephew’s baby shower. The venue was at my sister-in-laws house. We had chosen a nautical theme of dark blue, bright yellow, and neutrals. The dessert table was accessorized with a canvas blue and ivory stripe cloth. It worked so well with the theme she had chosen. The sweet treats table included a sail boat theme cake, cupcakes, vanilla pudding, strawberries stuffed with cheesecakes filling, cookies, chocolate covered marshmallow and chocolate cover donuts.”

Baby Bird Baby Sprinkle - January 28, 2012 by Admin

Tweet tweet. A little bird is here today to show you the cutest BABY BIRD BABY SPRINKLE submitted by Kate Petronis of  And Everything Sweet. This party would be a perfect TWEET Heart Valentine’s party, too!

Here is what Kate said about the party- “My sweet friend Katie is pregnant with her third child and due any minute now. Myself and four friends who love Katie to pieces put together this darling bird themed shower to celebrate the newest member of her family and “feather her nest”. :)

Isn’t this the cutest dang “E” you’ve ever seen? I hate to brag, but its not often that I see the letter E and say “awwwwwww”, but after I made this I whispered a long one. ;) This was one of many DIY projects from this party. Easy peezy…just get yerself a paper mache letter from the craft store and wrap it in yarn…round and round and round until you’re done. I embellished with felt birds and felt roses. I’m sure there is a tutorial online somewhere…I just kinda winged it, but I think it turned out pretty cute. (shower decorations/baby nursery decor afterwards…gotta love those two-fer deals!)

Another little DIY project, this wreath was so cute and fun to make and will make a great decoration for Emily’s nursery room door. Big thank you to my Cricut machine for cutting out the the letters and thank you to all the wooden doll tutorials I found all over the internet for this one. :)

For drinks we served pink lemonade in mason jars and of course, bottled water. Are you loving the fabric labels? I used leftover fabric from the dessert table (which by the way was .50/yard at Walmart!!!…these labels practically paid ME to decorate the water). I just love how I justify all these little expenses…hehe

We set up a clip making station so that each guest could make a little hair clip for baby Emily. I created little instructions for each “step” to help guide everyone through the clip making process. I put out ribbon and clips and each guest covered their own clip w/their ribbon of choice. Then they chose an embellishment to make it pretty. There were buttons, bows, fabric flowers and more.

After food and bow making we sat down to play a quick game of memory (baby themed). This game was so much fun to play. I found the idea and instructions to make the game here. Erica and Ashly did a great job putting it all together for us.

The basic idea of the game is a matching game…when you get a match you get a candy prize based on the match you made. For example…when you find the match to “contractions” you get a box of Whoppers. Epidural match gets the candy Lifesavers. I think you get the idea. Head over here for more candy ideas if you want to recreate!!!

Each guest was sent home with a little treat for their birds at home. These little bird seed ornament favors were not only cute, but totally inexpensive AND useful!! Our poor birds outside need all the food they can get in these harsh winter months (wait, wasn’t the high today in the 60s? Whatever…not everyone lives in Atlanta.). Go here for if you’d like to make some for yourself.”

Breakfast Meet & Eat Baby Shower - November 6, 2011 by Admin

This weekends party feature goes to this super clever BREAKFAST MEET & EAT BABY SHOWER submitted by Nicole Gould of Million Dollar Smile Celebrations! Love it! Instead of a “Sip & See” Nicole planned a wonderful alternative. I love all the doughnuts, cereal & “morning newspapers”. Look at the felt doughnuts on the door wreath! Everything is just so cute.

Here is what Nicole said about the party- “We’ve all heard of the Sip & See… Now introducing the Meet & Eat! Baby Grace, born on August 8th, is a tasty little one with a mommy, auntie, and grandma who love all things breakfast. Hosting a breakfast-themed party was just as delicious and fun to plan as it was to host. After all, breakfast is the most important meal of the day…
Inspiration – Bright Colors! Cheery Flowers! Felt! Sunday Morning Comics (My grandpa used to call the comic section in the Sunday paper the “Funnies”)! I wanted party guests to feel like they were walking into a donut shop from their favorite comic strip. Incorporating yarn, felt, and comics set a whimsical world for breakfast time….

{Continued}…

Invites – Guests received mini cereal boxes that included a clear sealed bag with an adorable slide-open invite and a funky and fun fashion ring (every cereal box needs a prize, right?)! The invite featured a real Fruit Loop acting as the “O” in the saying “Oh, isn’t she sweet?”. The bag was sneakily placed and resealed into the cereal box. A custom sticker displayed on the front of the cereal box said, “Look: Prize Inside”. Edible and interactive… guest RSVP’d eagerly to see (and taste) more!!!!
Food – Guests filled their plates and bowls with a variety of breakfast treats and eats. A donut shop, including a K-Cup ‘U Brew’ station displayed the brightest and yummiest Dunkin Donut specialties (Yes, they do custom orders). A cereal buffet indulged guests in their favorite childhood cereal and included several flavors of milk and crazy toppings like sprinkles, sugar, chocolate chips, and marshmallow confetti. N’Counter, Grace’s mommy’s favorite breakfast spot, provided the most delicious bran and blueberry muffins. A whopping 12 inch, fresh-baked donut displayed Grace’s banner, hand-glittered by The Purple Pug, and set the centerpiece for the display. For the health conscious, fresh fruit and healthy breakfast bars filled up glass bowls on shelves.
Drinks – Mommy’s allowed to have a mimosa so why not make it one to remember. Jell-O cubes were placed in flutes for a bright and fun twist on the classic cocktail served in flutes with beaded stems. Add juice and bubbly, then sip & see. A couple of guests were baking little buns of their own so a “Milk Mixin’ Station” allowed guests to drop a Got Milk? flavor straw into a refreshing cup of the Moo-Juice. Speaking of juice, guests could choose from “Fresh Squeezed” mini carafe bottles or “You Squeeze” orange sippers. Insert, squeeze, and sip (a Purple Pug inspiration)!
Décor – With the help of a few strong men, a few rolls of wrapping paper, and some rented tables and linens, my living room and home office transformed into a fanciful and fantastic breakfast hot-spot. Then, Dez from Papercandee, did the rest. She created the most enchanting printable collection perfect for the party. From the tiniest donut flags to the donut-shaped banners; it all incorporated the colors, theme, and the most adorable little sunshine. I set the tables with mini centerpieces (tiny cereal boxes, small fabric flower blooms, and felt donuts) and arranged transparent Louis Ghost acrylic chairs around the tables to off-set the rather bright décor around the room. Paper pinwheels, empty cereal boxes, comics, felt garland, fruit loops on yarn and paper poms set the backdrops and hanging décor. My favorite details were the donut-shape balloons and ‘almost good enough to eat’ flower arrangements. I placed six gerber daisies in empty Dunkin Donut boxes to look like tasty treats. I stacked a few closed boxes, and then left the one with the flowers open for a sneak peek of the flowers inside.
Favors – Cereal flavored lip glosses that I found at Target were placed into hand glittered boxes (Purple Pug). Guests also filled ‘to go’ boxes for the kiddos at home taking cereal box prizes, donut holes, cereal bars, apples, you name it. But the oohhs and aahhs really came from the personalized spoons that were beaded for every guest by Grace’s grandma (thanks again Puple Pug for so many awesome ideas).”

Rustic Elegance– in a Baby Shower - October 5, 2011 by Admin

I'm generally a modern girl, but this gorgeous baby shower (for twins!) made my heart skip a beat {via Amy Atlas}. The newspaper theme creates the rustic (I love the invites and the crossword puzzle, as well as the baby letters), and the all white flowers and black and white details bumps up the sophistication.

Someone have a baby (or babies!) so I can re-create this beauty! xoxo Event Lucky

P.S. Have you seen my re-design yet?

milkaholic sip & see baby shower - August 29, 2011 by Admin
This weekend’s winning party feature goes to this super adorable MILKAHOLIC SIP AND SEE BABY SHOWER submitted by Half Baked. What a clever idea! Carrie said that a ‘Milkaholic’ baby shower seemed fitting considering how much time a newborn spends eating! So true! I just love it.
Carrie- “I designed the invitation and let it set the tone for the party decor. Sleek and modern yet baby themed was the intent. The Milkaholic baby bottle became a logo that was used throughout the party. With this being a co-ed event, we wanted to keep the decor more modern and less traditional “baby”. To create a unique backdrop for the dessert table, I painted a canvas to match the party invite. Black and white patterned bunting was hung along the wall above the painting. Mini bottles were filled with milk and given sleek milk labels.”
You did such a good job, Carrie! Thanks for your submission! Congratulations on being chosen as a winning party feature!

“Activities for a co-ed baby event can be tricky.   Not wanting the male guests to feel awkward, I opted for non-organized activities that would still be fun and entertaining.  Guests were encouraged to write humorous thoughts onto diapers to provide Ted and Meredith a little chuckle later on.  TheDiaper Thoughts station gave the men an avenue to showcase their best and most clever diaper humor!  A Well  Wishes station encouraged guests to write something sentimental on keepsake cards which were then placed into a glass bubble bowl. Of course, the main activity was oohing and awing over the guest of honor, Baby Colin!”

“Guests were given a small box filled with ‘Kisses from Colin’. Hershey Kisses with patterned labels inside a white box wrapped with coordinating paper and tags.”

A Joint Baby Bridal Shower - May 12, 2011 by Admin

I've mentioned that I have one colleague that is expecting her first baby, and another colleague that is getting married (yes, they are separate people, even though my husband gets confused when I talk about them). Since both of their exciting events are happening in August/September, I was thinking to combine a party for them with our work friends. Our boss agreed, so we are planning an afternoon gathering one weekend.

I saw this fun, modern shower and it became my inspiration. I thought birds would be a good cross over theme, covering both "love birds" and "baby birds."  This inspiration party was a baby shower, but has a lot of fun ideas that I think I can use for my Baby/Bridal shower event!

What do you guys think? Any ideas for making these ladies both feel special?

xoxo EventLucky
